A Room Off The Lobby
The casino occupies a single room off the lobby of the bottom house, the easy-access one at the bottom of the drive. There is a bar along the far wall, a low stage in the corner, and enough room between the tables that you are not playing over anyone's shoulder.
It is a small floor and we have never wanted a larger one. On a good Saturday there might be forty people in the room, most of them staying upstairs, a few who walked up from town because the tables here are quieter than the ones by the waterfront.
The Tables
Table games are blackjack, roulette and poker. Blackjack runs every night the casino is open; roulette and poker open according to how busy the floor is, and the staff at the door will tell you what is running before you come in.
Minimum stakes are deliberately low. If you have never played, say so at the table — the dealers will walk you through a hand before any money is down, and nobody at this end of Queenstown minds waiting while you learn.
The Machines
The slot machines run along the wall opposite the bar, from single-line cabinets up to linked jackpots. They take coin and note, they pay out at the cage, and there are no ATMs on the gaming floor — that is deliberate, and it is not negotiable.
All machines are on-site only. We do not offer online gaming of any kind, and nothing on this website accepts a wager.
Hours And Dress
The casino opens at 18:00 daily and runs late; the bar serves until closing. Dress code is smart casual — no high-vis, no muddy boots straight off the track, otherwise wear what you like.
Entry is free, for hotel guests and for visitors alike. There is no membership, no door charge and no need to book a table.
The Bar And The Corner Stage
The bar sits beside the floor rather than behind a wall, so you can step away from a table without leaving the room. It pours Central Otago wine, a short cocktail list and whatever is on tap that month.
A local duo plays the corner stage on Friday and Saturday evenings. It is quiet enough to talk over, which is the point.
Entry, ID And Host Responsibility
Entry is restricted to persons aged 20 and over. Photo ID is checked at the door in accordance with the Gambling Act 2003, every night, without exception — bring it even if you have been in before.
Host responsibility is part of how the casino runs. Our staff are trained to recognise the signs of problem gambling and to act on them, breaks away from the tables are encouraged, self-exclusion is available on request at the door or by speaking to any member of staff, and there are no ATMs on the gaming floor. All gaming takes place on-site only; no online gaming is offered.
